As the city of Hong Kong continues to grow, it’s important that there are adequate public and government-run swimming pools for everyone. This is especially true when it comes to families, as many of these facilities have a variety of children’s activities to keep the kids entertained. However, these public pools can often be crowded during the summer.
To ensure that all swimming pools in Hong Kong are safe, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will step up inspections of private swimming pools this year to ensure that all life-saving attendants have valid qualifications. If there are repeated contraventions, the department may consider canceling the licence of the pool. In addition, it will co-ordinate with the Hong Kong China Life Saving Society to carry out publicity and education work.
