The Hong Kong Prize

The Hong Kong Prize is a public award to recognize pioneering research achievements of researchers and innovation enterprises, as well as to encourage them to continue their innovative exploration, establish themselves in Hong Kong, serve the nation and contribute to the world. Its operation is guided by the Charter, with a strong commitment to high standards of scientific and professional ethics.

Winners of the 8th Inter-school Competition of Study Projects on Hong Kong History and Culture received their awards today (September 25). The competition, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Museum of History and Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture, aims to enhance students’ knowledge of Hong Kong history and culture and encourage them to learn actively outside class through thorough investigation and research into the relationship between historical developments and changes in society.

It was a record-breaking evening for Hong Kong filmmakers at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards, with big hits such as Mad Fate and Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In taking top honours. Actors Sean Lau Ching-wan and Michelle Wai Sze-nga also won the best actor and actress prizes, respectively.

Despite the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, three Hong Kong students made it to the national finals of the 21st Century Cup English Speaking Competition National Grand Finals in Sichuan province on Wednesday. Charmaine Wu Sum-ching of Diocesan Girls’ School, Christina Wong Man-yan of St. Paul’s Co-educational College and Sammie Chan Wing-yan of Carmel Pak U Secondary School competed with the rest of the country via video conference.

HK Phil receives world’s most prestigious music prize

The HK Philharmonic Society has been awarded the World’s Most Prestigious Musical Institution Prize by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, marking the third time that the HK Phil has won the award. The HK Phil extends its heartfelt thanks to the Hong Kong SAR Government and Principal Patron the Swire Group, as well as all HK Phil supporters around the world for their support over the years.

BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2023 awarded

The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2023, organized by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and title sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, has been announced at a ceremony in Central this afternoon. Distinguished scholars and experts from the academia, industry, and innovation enterprises across the globe are invited to select the winners of this year’s prize, which recognises excellence in scientific research in areas of unexplored basic sciences and frontier technologies conducted by scientists and technologists primarily from Hong Kong or university-industry-research-development bases or institutes set up by Hong Kong higher education institutions within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

Winners of the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize will be given a prize money of HK$1 million each, with the first-place winner receiving a trophy worth HK$500,000. All of the winning entries will be published on the BOCHK website and social media accounts in due course.
