This is because these are strong starting hands and splitting them will give you two separate hands that will be played separately. This way, if you get a point value of 21 on one of your hands it will be considered a push and you will simply receive your original bet back.

It is also a good idea to stand when you have a hand of 17 or higher. This will ensure that you don’t get busted if the dealer has a lower hand. However, if the dealer shows a weak card such as 3 or 4, it is better to hit.
